Final outcome

For this task, I am required to show all of my developmental work that lead to my final outcome.

Below are my designs and practice runs, leading up to the final product.

Makeup design:

Here is the final, annotated version of my final design.

I much prefered this method of showing the two faces, I personally think it was much more effective in conveying a mask, than the simple split face.

Hair design:

7 Times Demi Lovato Nailed Her Bob Haircut | Makeup Tutorials | Demi lovato short hair, Demi lovato hair, Short slicked back hair

Above is a reference photo of how I would like to style my performers hair.

My client has her hair in a short bob, but it also currently growing out an undercut.

Due to this, her hair is very short underneath.

Therefore, I didn’t want to do anything to complicated and struggle to style the shorter hairs.

Furthermore, my character has a messy, slicked back hairstyle in the film and I wanted to stick with this, as I have made lots of changes through the makeup.

Attempt 1:

Overall, I was really impressed with how this design looked when I created it for the first time.

When creating the blacked out eye, the black eyeshadow produced a lot of fall out.

Therefore, I must remember to do this before the base, so I do not ruin the base makeup of future attempts.

I also want to try and find, or create a black and white lipstick, as just using shadows on the lips doesn’t work very well.

Not only does the shadow fade quickly from the lip area, but it is not very comfortable for the person wearing it as it will dry out the lips.

Attempt 2:

I am so impressed with this look, and how bright the colours look on top of the lighter base.

I did forget to do the black eyeshadow before the base, so the red section turned out much darker than I intended.

However, in this try I created my own black and white lipsticks by pre-mixing some old eye shadows with vaseline.

I am so impressed with how this turned out, not only was it comfortable for the actor but it stayed on for ages without smudging or wearing away!

Attempt 3 / make-up trials :

Here are the photos from our makeup trials with the performers.

In this look I remembered to create the black eye before the base, and really like how it turned out.

I am also really impressed with the eyebrows. My client doesn’t have much hair on her brows, so I had to create the shape myself and am really impressed with how they looked.

However, In this I did forget to create the blue outline around the mouth, so the overall finish wasnt as effective.

Overall, I am impressed with how this went, and most importantly my client loved it !

Final outcome:

Overall, I am extremely happy with my final outcome.

I am really happy with how i developed this design, to ensure it was perfect for my client.

There is a detailed evaluation of this look in the next post.
