Introduction

Upon first reading my FMP project brief, I knew I wanted to use this opportunity to create a look that was really powerful. To do this, I would have to create something inspired by a subject or issue that is important to me, or has affected me personally. After considering many subjects, and which may create the strongest statement within a make-up piece, I decided to focus this work on Mental Health Disorders. Not only is the struggle of mental health, and invisible illness something that hits very close to home for me, It is also something I will be able to collect information on, by reaching out to other people, as well as a subject that deserves further representation. Overall, I am hoping my finished outcome will portray a strong message to its viewer.

When considering how I wanted to present my look, I reflected on the work I have created within the last eleven units of my qualification, along with the work experience I have taken part in. More recently, I have begun to experiment with beauty and fashion editorial works outside of college, and have decided I want to tie this into my FMP. After considering creating looks for a short film, I decided the editorial images would work better, as this is the area I have created the least work for. Therefore, not only can I use my FMP to create a powerful outcome, and use a series of images,  allowing me to show a large range of hair and make-up skills, I can also develop my craft and expand my portfolio.

When trying to decide what to create for this unit, I created a lotus diagram, pictured above. This helped me collect key information on each subject, allowing me to see them all together, and compare, before deciding on an outcome.
