Final Assessment

In this post I have detailed all the relevant information from my Final Major Project, Assessment piece.

Although I am intending to create an image series, I had to choose one main look to complete as an assessment. I chose to create my Depression look for my assessment as it’s design is equal parts hair and makeup, and I also feel it will create the most dramatic effect.

Consultation

Like any other appointment, I had to ensure to complete a consultation form with my client, allowing me time to identify and contra-indications, and prevent and contra-actions. When completing my consultation, the only thing I identified was that my client has a fear of needles. This does not directly effect anything I was completing, however I ensured to check she was okay with the idea of barbed wire wrapped around her head. After concluding everything was fine we went ahead with our treatment.

Mood Board

I brought my mood board with me on the assessment day, allowing my assessor to visualise the thought process I had undergone while planning this look. I received great feedback on my mood board, and the range of materials and images I had included.

Face Plan

As previously analysed in my final designs post, I displayed my face plan on the mirror, so I could clearly follow my plan. This helped to ensure I followed all of my intentions, creating the look I was aiming for.

Set Up

I ensured to keep a smaller version of my mood board on display where I could see, beside the face plan. This allowed me to refer back to any images if necessary. Following the health and safety guidance outlined in my previous post, I ensured to lay out all of my products, in a clearly organised manner. I also made sure any spill-able products always had their lids on, and all products were labeled to prevent any potentially dangerous mix up.

Images

Below are some of the images I had taken after finishing the look. I worked with a photographer on this project, allowing me to create really effective, high quality final images. These images, and an in depth evaluation can be found in their own separate post.

Overall I am extremely happy with the result of my assessment, and feel I have exceeded my personal goals. The look I created not only helped to present the ideas surrounding mental health, it also allowed me to demonstrate the skills I have acquired over the last two years, and show how much I have grown as a creative artist.
