Project proposal

In this post I have included a copy of my project proposal. If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a tab that will allow you to slide across and read the whole table.

Candidate Name Megan Hoff
Candidate Number 511256
Pathway Specialist Makeup
Project Title Final Major Project | Self Directed Project | Mental Health Demons
Section 1: Rationale (approx. 150 words)
The skills I have gained across all previous units of this qualification, both practical and coursework based, have helped to hugely build my confidence. Learning how to effectively evaluate my own work and take on board criticisms in order to improve my skill, as well as learning to create a whole design from a given brief, and experiment and justify the use of different techniques and equipment has really helped me unlock a deeper passion for hair and makeup artistry. All of this combined has encouraged me to collaborate with all kinds of creators, allowing me to gain invaluable work experience and build an impressive portfolio. Knowing not only how to apply makeup, but having the justification behind every choice has really helped me to improve my understanding and build myself as an artist.
Section 2: Project concept (approx. 200 words)
I have chosen to base the concept of my FMP around raising awareness for mental health disorders. Not only is this a worldwide issue that I feel needs to become less of a taboo subject, but it also has personal ties which will hopefully allow me to create something really meaningful. I intend to create a series of editorial inspired images to raise awareness to this matter. I plan to use the research techniques I have acquired within the last 11 units, to allow me to explore more of a fashion editorial approach to this outcome, therefore pushing the boundaries of my skill. Rather than relying on the internet alone, I intend to visit museums, galleries and showcases as well as purchasing books, journals, and magazines to further improve my knowledge. My aim is to produce a series of four images based on the depiction of different mental health disorders, each using a diverse set of techniques, allowing me to showcase all I have learned throughout the last two years. Then, at our annual college showcase I will have my images displayed in an exhibition layout. I intend to collaborate with photographers and stylists to help me get the most out of my images. However, I will also ensure to take my own images in case any issues occur that may cause disruptions in my project. I also intend to conduct multiple surveys and interviews to gain an outside insight, and feedback on my work.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will evaluate my work on both an ongoing, and finalised basis, by creating a reflective journal. I will use this journal as a way to describe the events that have taken place in order for me to develop my practice since the start of this unit, by creating a weekly review. Then, I will analyse and evaluate how these steps have helped me, and what other steps may be taken to further this development. I will also use this to document any feedback my work receives, allowing me to continuously refer back and improve my designs. This will help me elevate my work to new levels, and hopefully ensure my work creates the intended shock factor. Additionally, after I have created my final outcomes, I will create a detailed evaluation of the whole unit and explore what I may have done differently to make the process easier.
Section 4: Project action plan and timetable
